Four Chiefs named to Team Canada
The Six Nations Pro-Fit Chiefs will be well represented by Team Canada at the upcoming FIL World Indoor Lacrosse Championships.
Billy Dee Smith, Brandon Miller, Dan Coates, and Dhane Smith were named to Team Canada's 23-man roster this week.
The WILC takes place on the Onondaga Nation from September 18 to 27. Team Iroquois, featuring several members of the Chiefs, will host 13 nations from around the world.
The games will be played at the War Memorial Arena and Onondaga Nation Arena, with the bronze and gold medal games played at the Carrier Dome at Syracuse University on Sunday, September 27.
Canada is the reigning world champion and is unbeaten in international play with a 17-0 record in the past three world championships.
"Our coaching staff spent considerable time reviewing the National Athlete Pool (NAP)," head coach Eddie Comeau said. "Every athlete in our NAP is an outstanding player and deserving for consideration for the Canadian national team. But we can only take 23 players to the Worlds. Although these were very tough decisions, we are confident that we have assembled a skilled and athletic team that is excited to represent Canada at the 2015 WILC."
