Chiefs capture second-straight Mann Cup

     The Six Nations Chiefs are Mann Cup Canadian senior men’s lacrosse champions. Playing the Victoria Shamrocks in the best-of-seven national championship at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena in Hagersville, Six Nations scored a 13-9 victory on Wednesday night to take the series 4-1. It is the second straight Mann Cup title for the Chiefs and fifth since 2013. Overall, Six Nations has won eight Canadian championships. The Chiefs trailed the Shamrocks 8-7 going into the third period of Game5 before scoring four straight times. Captain Cody Jamieson, who now has five Mann Cup titles, scored the series clinching goal. Eli McLaughlin (5G, 2A), Dhane Smith (5A), Lyle Thompson (2G, 3A) and Shayne Jackson (1G, 4A) were the keys on offence for Six Nations. Nonkon Thompson, Randy Staats, Steve Priolo and Travis Longboat also scored for the Chiefs. Lyle Thompson (10G, 11A) was named the most valuable player of the championship series.
